Sarasota Guided Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour

Overview
There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

My wife and I decided today to try find a kayak tour. With only a couple hours notice, Chris was waiting for us for what turned out to be a "private" tour with only the two of us in tow. We were quickly in the water and learning the basics of kayaking. During the almost 3 hours on the water, Chris entertained us with his knowledge of the animals, foliage, and even some history of the area. Of course one of the highlights was to see the manatees close to our kayaks as well navigating the mangrove tunnels. I highly recommend spending an afternoon with him but you must also ask him about his walk across our country and meeting his fiancee! Thank you Chris

This was definitely top 3 things I did on my vacation in Florida! We booked the 9:30AM guided tour on a Monday AM and turned out to be a private tour since no one else booked :) Finding the place was super easy and parking was great. We met our tour guide, Ben, who was super knowledgeable and friendly! He knew so much about the area for only moving to FL recently. Unfortunately, we did not get to see any manatees due to the choppy water conditions and extremely hot weather, but it was still a great kayaking excursion. The mangrove tunnels were so beautiful, but I will admit, the black crabs on the branches that look like spiders were scary to me. I highly recommend this place to EVERYONE!!

We were looking for something to do with three teens. This was a great way to spend a hot afternoon. Chris was a great guide! His insight into the area and ecosystem just made the trip even better. We have kayaked in much deeper waters which can make some anxious. This experience was done in waters that weren't very deep. We even got to get out of the kayak on a sandbar in the middle of the bay in 3ft of water (do dress appropriately, wear sunscreen, and bring sunglasses/hat!) Ending the tour in the mangrove tunnels was unlike anything we have every done. What a great experience! Thanks, Chris!
