Sarasota Guided Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour

Overview
There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

My father and I booked the morning tour last minute and thanks to it not being high season quite yet, we were the only two and got the guide Chris all to ourselves. He took us to see dolphins (which was amazing), the sandbar where we got out of the kayak and were able to walk around checking out hermit crabs and other sea life then offered to take a picture of me and my dad, and finally through the mangrove tunnels. We didn't see any manatees but honestly seeing the dolphins was so cool I didn't even need a manatee sighting...Chris was knowledgeable, so generous with his time, and was great to talk with. We will book again!

Our guide Chris was great. He is very Knowledgeable on the sea life, birds, plants, and general area. We kayaked with dolphins and manatees. The cormorants dove all around our kayaks. The mangrove tunnels are awesome. My son and I definitely recommend Chris and Sea Life Adventure Tours.

This was our third time kayaking with Sea life. The second time with Chris as our guide. Each time we have been the only ones. This time we had one tandem and three solo kayaks. We have been on tour different times of the year and each experience was a little different. Chris pointed our that manatees are more likely seen when the water is warmer, but even without manatees itā€™s a fun half day. On this trip we hit the jackpot. First we went through the mangrove ā€œtunnels ā€œ During that time you are surrounded by mangroves. Lots of wildlife. Crabs oysters. On a previous trip we even saw a family of raccoons. After that we paddled up a canal and saw a bunch of manatees. Then on our way out we saw two pods of dolphins. One group went right through our kayaks. One actually went right beside me and turned in his (or her) side and looked at me. Then they did some jumps Obviously you canā€™t always count on that kind of experience when you tour, it is luck of the draw. But Chris knows where to go to improve your odds of seeing a lot. Kayaking experience is a plus but by no means a requirement.
