Sarasota Guided Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour

Overview
There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

Perfect conditions ensured a good day on the water. What made the kayak tour remarkable was the knowledge and skills of our guide, Chris. Not only did our group see a manatee because of his keen eye and patience, we got close to some dolphins fishing. Close enough to see but not spook or bother. We finally moved on before they did. The most amazing part was his attitude in a difficult situation; my wife had never been on a kayak before and with good instructions and people skills got she and my daughter through 2+ hours in the bay and even the mangrove tunnels. By managing to fish out some trash along the way he demonstrated that Sea Life Kayak Adventures is eco-tourism as they claim.

This was an awesome experience and Ben was an excellent tour guide. My husband, 2 sons (ages 10 and 14) and I used tandem kayaks. We saw manatees; one surfaced right by our kayaks-this was very exciting! We also had fun seeing the sea birds swim under and around us the whole time. We stopped at a beach area and saw many jellyfish and living conch. The tour through the mangrove tunnels was amazing-it was like being in the enchanted forest! We saw many crabs and sea stars. Ben was very knowledgeable about the ecosystem and wildlife. I would definitely recommend this tour!

We had a lot of fun. This was our first time kayaking and out tour guide was very helpful. We saw manatees within the first few minutes and enjoyed the birds that played around the kayaks. The mangrove tunnels were really cool and the little beach area was a nice way to stretch our legs. The starfish, big snail, and crabs were interesting as well. Overall, we felt safe and had a wonderful time.
