Bonaventure Cemetery is a beautiful place with so much history. I took a tour of it with Shannon Scott, and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is very knowledgeable about Savannah history and the stories and legends of those buried in the cemetery. I learned so much from Shannon and completely enjoyed hearing the stories of those who eternally rest in this beautiful place. If you are considering a tour of this cemetery, I would definitely recommend Shannon's tour! You can find more information at http://www.bonaventurecemetery.com/

Bonaventure Cemetery is wondrously beautiful but Shannon Scott made it a unique experience, bringing it to life (in a respectful and non-hokey way) by telling some amazing stories about the souls that rest there. (For you cannot truly appreciate Savannah w/o understanding its people). My favorites were the tales about Professor Wiegand & Corinne Lawton/Heaven's Gate. And Mercer and Little Gracie. I was sad to see the tour end so I will be back for more when I'm next in Savannah. Definitely the best time we had in Savannah.

It is unfortunate that the ladies had a mis-communication in the previous review because my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our Bonaventure Cemetery Tour with Scott Shannon. There is a lot of walking around to the different burial sites for which we were told a lot of history surrounding some of the deaths of persons buried there. His passion about some places like the plat where the statue of little Gracie is was undeniable. We went to the dinner at Sisters of the New South (great soul food, good prices) after our tour and Scott sat at our table telling us more stories as we ate. He is very knowledgable about Savannah and its history, and we learned so much about burials and traditions. We had a rental car so drove to the cemetery which is about 4 miles out from the city center...there was ample parking and we had a large group. Scott helped to make Savannah one of America's most attractive cities, at least to these two Texas gals.
