Bonaventure Cemetery

During this 2.5 hour tour, you will be joining a very exclusive club of people who have seen the cemetery after it closes to the public. Not since it opened in 1846 has this been an opportunity, but thanks to your very special local host, now it is. You are literally locked in the cemetery the entire time; for the right taker, there's no price you can put on the joy of that. Imagine having the serenity, stillness, and quiet of the cemetery, uninterrupted by the living world. Stories stretch from the present day all the way back to Bonaventure's plantation beginnings in 1754. Our topics range from the funny and uplifting to the macabre at its most morbid. We've been on cemetery tours before, but none as captivating as this one. Shannon is a great story teller who has done his research. We found his personal insights fascinating and helped to "bring to life" the statuary and inscriptions that abound here. We not only had a deeper appreciation for the enchantment of this cemetery, but a better understanding of Savannah history when this tour was completed. This is a rewarding use of three hours, as it gets under the glossy tales you'll find on the trolley tours. We noticed that another reviewer excoriated Shannon because he was "full of himself." We don't necessarily disagree, but neither do we see that as a criticism. Shannon is a lover of Bonaventure, of Savannah, and of truth. We're more than happy to spend three hours with that kind of self.

Informative and captivating! Shannon Scott's tour of Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah held our attention for 2.5 hours as he related stories of history and human interest... Without question, the highlight of our time in Savannah! A must! Be sure to book this tour before you leave home!! The BEST!!

Tonight I took the after hour Bonaventure tour. It was amazing! Shannon has done a great deal of research on the history and people from savannahs past. Being a Savannah native There are story's you grow up hearing but to the outside world they are very hush hush, shannon has brought to life some of these story's and they are amazing. Walking through Bonaventure at dusk is breath taking. Shannon is able to give you something no other tour guide can! He is able to give you a glimpse of something that has been until now forbidden, inside of Bonaventure after the gates are closed and locked. Bonaventure is beautiful after dark, for me its always been a place of comfort and serinity, its an enchanting place at night. I would recommend comfortable shoes and a flashlight. I definitely recommend this tour as a must to anyone who loves cemeteries and history. An added plus, the celebrities buried out there.
