Savannah’s Historical District: A Self-Guided Audio Tour

Overview
Stroll along streets lined with southern live oak trees draped in Spanish moss on this self-guided walking tour of beautiful Savannah. You’ll discover how and why the city was established, and learn about the battles that were fought here. You’ll hear stories filled with intrigue and, as Savannah’s southern charm draws you in, you'll hear how this city has grown into the popular destination it is today.

High points along the way include:

• Discovering the history and home of the Gordon family, along with Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts
• Seeing where Forrest Gump sat with his box of chocolates
• Exploring a former battleground
• Finding out why Savannah is the most haunted city in the country

This audio tour covers all that, and much more. It can be enjoyed on location or even virtually at home. It begins in Wright Square and ends at Forsyth Park, and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy your surroundings and truly savour Savannah.

The gardens were lovely, the squirrels were adorable and not afraid. My husband and I learned more about the locations and homes from reading the plaques and google than we did from the audio tour. The voices used were to mechanical, not informative, and very short.

Hi Meredith It sounds like you might have been listening to an audio tour not provided by VoiceMap. Our tour is recorded by a passionate local and isn't computer-generated. We also include sound effects to bring the stories to life. The tour has over 40 minutes of audio, providing and in-depth overview of Savannah's historical district. Kind regards, Alicia

We took an on-off bus tour. Got off at this stop, Forsyth Park, just awesome. The fountain was the best, many pictures taken. Tree lined, just a wonderful place to relax and see the sights. I recommend the on-off bus so you can get off anyplace on the line and explore that area, back on bus to check out more.
