Would have given zero stars if that were an option. Beyond a disappointment. Poorly organized. No seats for group at a number of the restaurants on the tour. Culinary “delicacies” (I use this term loosely) included a piece of blueberry coffee cake, a cold coffee drink (coffee, ice cream and whipped cream), 3 chicken wings, duck fat fried French fries, 2 samples of beer, soup so salty you couldn’t eat it, and popcorn. Are any of these unique to Bar Harbor? Tour guide provided next to no information about the history of Bar Harbor other than how it related to her personal history. Then she had the nerve to ask for a tip. Waste of time and money. Sorry to say.

This was probably the highlight of our trip to Bar Harbor. Our guide Senachie was so full of information and history with pictures and props that we almost forgot this was a food tour! And, the food was great. Definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to enjoy good food and learn about the history of Bar Harbor.

You can really tell that the history is a passion project for Senechie and we're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed both the food and food for thought. Thank you for your review and recommendation!

I’m not sure why but Trip Advisor has this tour listed at $95. Go to the Maine Foodie Tours website directly. We paid $69.95. For a quick tour of a few of the locally owned and run places to eat, this is a great tour to try. We had lobster roll, wings, adult beverages, including a delicious coffee/ice cream drink, and gourmet flavored pop corn. We also sampled olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We liked one of the restaurants so much, we ended up going back that night for dinner. Our guide, Senachie, was very informative and friendly. Along with food, he gave us neat history and fun facts about Bar Harbor which only enhanced our tour. He also took us into St. Savior’s Episcopal church which is beautiful and worth the visit. We also toured with very nice people, which was an added bonus. Try this tour early in your Bar Harbor visit so you can go back to the places you like to sample more on your own! We have done the food tour thing on vacation before so we knew that we would enjoy this experience. If you have never tried a food tour, it is a fully immersive experience and we would recommend Maine Foodie Tours.

Thanks so much for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your tour and your guide and agree that taking the tour first gives guests lots of great ideas for other activities while in town. The price difference is due to VIP tickets purchased through TripAdvisor which include a lobster oven mitt filled with all the fixens to host your own lobster bake at home, plus a guide to dining and a discount card. This an upgrade option on our website as well that some guests enjoy. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks for joining us!
