The experience was very memorable. Darlene was the perfect guide for this tour. She was very knowledgeable and personable. We enjoyed the varied venues and types of food they offered. Overall a great experience.

We expected the guide to introduce herself and she didn't say anything till the first stop. And there was a wheelchair person in our group and the guide did not notice they couldn't keep up until we almost got to the first stop. She should have been more observant of the person. Otherwise she was very good and knowledgeable.

My family visited Charleston for the first time this month, and signed up for the Savor the Flavors Walking Food Tour with the hope of tasting true low-country food. Based on the description of the tour, we would be sampling many dishes that are true to the Charleston area, and not something we would be able to find on the west coast. We were disappointed when we learned that the majority of the locations that we would be visiting would not include the advertised dishes. In all, we stopped at 4 location. At the first we sampled sweet tea and benne wafers. The second we sampled pimento cheese and she-crab soup. The third we sampled mussels and truffle fries. And the final location was a bakery where we had some sort of cake. Yes, a few of the items were traditional low-country items, but we had high hopes that they would all be that way. According to our tour guide, the locations they stop at depends on whether or not the restaurant can accommodate a tour group at that time, so their selection of locations can change during the year. My suggestion would be to contact the company and see if they can provide you with the menu of foods that they will be sampling at the time of your visit. Even though we were disappointed with the food, our tour guide was a great source of information and made the tour interesting. We learned a lot about the food, as well as Charleston history.
