Seattle Harbor Cruise

Overview
Get acquainted with Seattle's historic waterfront from the water side of the wharf on this fully narrated cruise of Elliott Bay and Seattle Harbor. This cruise follows the shoreline and provides up-close views of the piers, ports and area attractions. There are plenty of interesting features around the bay: the Port of Seattle (one of the busiest ports in the United States), Colman Dock (the main dock of the largest ferry system in the US), and Pier 90 (home of the region's cruise ship business), Alki Beach (major local summertime hangout), the Space Needle, the famous Hotel Edgewater, the Great Wheel and the Seattle Aquarium. Last but not least, enjoy tremendous views of the natural beauty that surrounds Seattle. The majestic Olympic Mountains lie to the west, solitary Mount Rainier to the southeast, and the inviting Cascade Range to the east.

We really enjoyed the Seattle Harbor Cruise. I usually get sea sick on any kind of water vessel, but I did not get sick on this cruise. Also, Shannon, who was our tour guide of sorts, was very great. He was very knowledgeable about Seattle and was very entertaining on the Mic. The cruise offered a drink Bar (with alcohol) and food, for purchase, which my husband really loved. There are enclosed decks if you don't want wind or rain on you. We sat on the top deck, however, because it was a beautiful day and it was amazing. Recommended for adults and kids, as you get to be out on the water and you get to see amazing views of the city of Seattle, the Space Needle, The Skyview tower, and the Mariners and Seahawks stadiums.

With limited sightseeing time included in my business-related visit to Seattle, this was a perfect bang-for-the-buck, not just dollar-wise, but in terms of packing the most in to a limited time. One hour doesn't seem like a lot of time but this trip packs an amazing amount into that time, the ship covers a surprising amount of distance north and south from its departure point in that time. Having a great guide (ours was Spencer, who was outstanding) helps, as you learn a lot about Seattle (past & present) during the tour. As a port city, so much of Seattle's identity comes from that relationship with the water, and seeing both the downtown areas, the mountains, the industrial areas of the port, the stadium areas, etc., from the water just gives you a more complete understanding of the city. I learned a lot, and it's just a beautiful trip. Make sure you sit outside, even if that means you need to bundle up. Get your tickets ahead of time and arrive early to make sure you are near the front of the line when they board the boat, so you get more choice of seats.

First time riding the Seattle Harbor Cruise after a few people suggested it to me. We did the 1 hour trip. It was a great first time experience. Guide is very knowledgeable. It was neat to be able to move around the boat during the trip to get different views of the area. Also, they had yummy drinks so it was nice to enjoy one of those as well.
