Seattle Harbor Cruise

Overview
Get acquainted with Seattle's historic waterfront from the water side of the wharf on this fully narrated cruise of Elliott Bay and Seattle Harbor. This cruise follows the shoreline and provides up-close views of the piers, ports and area attractions. There are plenty of interesting features around the bay: the Port of Seattle (one of the busiest ports in the United States), Colman Dock (the main dock of the largest ferry system in the US), and Pier 90 (home of the region's cruise ship business), Alki Beach (major local summertime hangout), the Space Needle, the famous Hotel Edgewater, the Great Wheel and the Seattle Aquarium. Last but not least, enjoy tremendous views of the natural beauty that surrounds Seattle. The majestic Olympic Mountains lie to the west, solitary Mount Rainier to the southeast, and the inviting Cascade Range to the east.

During this tour, you get great views of the city skyline. You learn a good amount about the layout of the harbor and the shipping area, and you even get to see some sea lions in their natural habitat.

In just one hour, you can see some Seattle landmarks and get a sense of the surroundings, especially the busy harbor that is an important part of the city’s life. The narration (our excellent guide was Rajiv) combines equal parts of fun facts, humor, and historical background to help one understand the city and its economy. The presence of huge freighters, tankers, and barges gives one an appreciation of how Seattle has prospered from its position on the Northern Pacific, as well as from its inland resources of timber and, more recently, high-tech. It is an hour well spent.
