Overview

The Original Tour covers the most popular neighborhoods of San Francisco to provide the best local introduction to the city. The tour starts in the heart of the financial district underneath the Transamerica Pyramid. After our group introduction in SF's smallest redwood park, we'll weave our way through the secret side of downtown to see parts of the city that even locals often miss! As we explore the historical Barbary Coast we share family stories of the Wild West during the Gold Rush years. After learning about these lawless times, we'll make our way into North Beach (our Little Italy) as we sample a plethora of snacks and introducing our groups to local community businesses. We'll end the tour in our most authentic historic neighborhood, Chinatown. In Chinatown we'll visit stores and marketplaces that sell unique items, both dead & alive(!), while trying delicious authentic dim sum. Finally, we'll finish up by visiting the fortune-cookie factory and the "living room" of Chinatown.

The time just flew by, Stuart was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. It's a shame that it was not twice as long because we thoroughly enjoyed this tour that I would recommend to anyone looking for a walking tour in San Francisco.

Stuart was outstanding. We took 2 tours with him. The free tour and the revolution tour. Both were fun, lively and full of information that is not easily available to regular travellers. . The history, culture and the unknown alleys and parks revealed to us by Stuart were definitely the highlights of our stay in San Francisco. These tours are highly recommended to everybody that wants to touch the heart and soul of this city !!!

We went with Stuart on the original walking tour - Jackson Square , North Beach , Chinatown etc - and it exceeded our expectations - what a great guy to discover the city with like a local. His depth of knowledge of the social and political history of the city, his own connections with the past and with today's developments and his unbounded enthusiasm all go to make a great day out. There were dozens of highlights including lots of info on great local businesses but lunch at the famed Molinari deli was a special one.
