Mobile Carnival Museum
The museum highlights the history of Mardi Gras in its true birthplace in America - Mobile, Alabama. Experience royalty in a restored mansion-majestic crowns, scepters and one-of-a-kind bejeweled robes. Get a behind the mask look at the street party and floats. Youths can become a costumed rider in the Little Mystics Den. Boutique Gift shoppe. Guided tours at 9:30 am, 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. Others tours self-guided and automated via smart phone. Free Wifi.

What a great place, beautiful exhibits. Staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable! Well worth the visit!

Wow! This place is awesome! I had no idea of the history of carnival in Mobile. What elaborate attire the king and queen wore! So many displayed beautifully! Lot of history. Incredible!! Wouldn't have missed this place for anything! It was fun! There were many costumes you could dress up in and take photos. And browse through the gift shop-so many neat things and so inexpensive. Ladies that worked there were so nice!

Visited this museum on a whim. I knew Mobile was home to first Mardi Gras but this museum was full of interesting information about the history of the balls and other traditions surrounding the festivities. Definitely worth visiting
