Skunk Train: Pudding Creek Express from Fort Bragg

Overview
This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction.

Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables.

These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

We area crazy train people and planned our trip specifically to ride this train! Beautiful ride, unexpected 45 minute stop to enjoy the redwoods, trails, and see the tunnel. Perhaps too many inappropriately trained dogs, but understandable to allow them on the train if people are traveling - I certainly would have brought mine if they had been with us. Highly recommend this train adventure. Make sure to book in advance.

We had a great time on the skunk train! There is inside seating, so you can even go in the rain, which we did. The train goes by a graveyard, along pudding creek, and then out to a pavilion where you can choose to take a short hike, sit in the pavilion, or remain on the train for the 45 minute stop. The train has bathrooms and a snack bar. You can get a small bucket of popcorn that comes with a lid so you can use it at the beach later!

What a lovely way to enjoy a day. Start with an easy boarding. Enjoyed some sparkling wine on the journey through the redwoods. Then a relaxing short hike while others played games at the Blair Bar. Perfect timing to have a lunch after and check out the nearby beaches. Can't wait to go back for another experience.
