Skunk Train: Pudding Creek Express from Fort Bragg

Overview

This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction.

Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables.

These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

It was a nice ride, very beautiful, but not as long a ride, as I expected. I also expected more time to look around and explore the trails, but only got 25 minutes, otherwise would have been left without another train or a way back! Somewhat disappointed.🙁

This was my first time taking the Pudding Creek trip.. The train leaves the station and heads 3.5 miles into the forest. Stops off at an area in the woods. This area has tables and benches as well as hiking trails. It’s a beautiful spot to bring a lunch to and enjoy the outdoors..

It was just a total fun experience. The train travels at a perfect speed so you can take some great photos. We chose to ride outside In the open air car. The crew was very friendly and of course the scenery is just magnificent. Very magical.
