Skunk Train: Pudding Creek Express from Fort Bragg

Overview

This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction.

Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables.

These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

Wonderful afternoon and the bonus was getting to take a hike into the redwoods it is a good event for families wear shoes for a great walk

Rode VIP to Glen Blair. Great lunch, good weather and the venue is a nice way to chill out in the redwoods. The concession car offers a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and a variety of snacks. Staff aboard the train was great. The trip had a nice narration of points along the line. This was the first time we rode a daytime trip as we had rode the train last year aboard an evening themed train to Glen Blair that was fantastic. We’re coming back again!

Great outing for us. We drove from Point Arena to Ft. Bragg for the Skunk Train ride. The ride through the redwoods was nice along Pudding Creek. Once we arrived at Glen Blair Junction we took a short walk and the 45 minutes was enough time to even sit, relax, enjoy the scenic view, and eat lunch. VIP was worth it but only received one bag that had everything in it for 3 of us. If booked separately each would have received their own bag. Other than that it was great with or without VIP because you can pack your own lunch. Everyone was professional and friendly with smiles. Bathrooms onboard, concession with drink choices and coffee. Our concession host was fantastic with a jolly personality. There will be a next time when we visit the area again.
