Small Group Boat, Kayak and Walking Guided Eco Tour in Everglades National Park

Overview
This very popular eco-adventure and combines the best of a boat tour, a kayak tour and a walking tour in a single great learning experience. Depending on the season, you can encounter manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, roseate spoonbills and/or numerous species of fish and shore birds. A very comfortable transport boat will bring you deep into Everglades National Park with your Florida Master Naturalist guide. Once at the first destination, the tour slows down using very stable, comfortable kayaks to get you close to the flora and fauna. Imagine paddling next to a manatee or a dolphin! (No previous kayaking experience is required and there are single and two-person kayaks on every tour). Continue your interpretive experience with a walking tour on remote, pristine barrier island beach … a beach that is seldom visited by others.

The guide was knowledgeable and encouraged engagement among the small group (which I loved having taken it alone) but also had quiet moments to soak in the environment. Knew exactly where to find animals and stayed around for just the right amount of time.

I want to relay tour was with a fill in staff not owner. He never introduced himself. I have been on several eco tours and usually the information is flowing and I learn a lot but unfortunately not this time. It was not terrible but not great, guide seemed tired. Hike was a walk on a small beach. Would have been nice if they minimally provided water for the cost. Happy to see dolphins and several different birds.

I am sorry that you were not impressed. No, I did not conduct this tour. It was conducted by a USCG captain and Everglades guide who has worked with me for over two decades ... not a "fill in". During the summer months, in general, the morning tours are best. In the afternoons we have convective sea breezes that can produce higher than the normal summer tides in the afternoon reducing the amount of beach exposed. In the 10,000 Islands area where we operate, there are numerous, beautiful natural Florida beach heads. None big enough for anyone to describe as a "hike". Farther to the southeast, outside the 10,000 islands, the beaches can be three - 10+ miles longs. There you can "hike". But, these are unreachable in the 3.5 hours we have available. I am glad that you were happy to see the dolphins, egrets, herons, ospreys, bald eagles. You did not mention the massive loggerhead turtle the rose by the boat or the brilliantly pink rosette spoonbills? I hope that you enjoyed the kayaking, as well.
