The concierge at our hotel (Amara Resort) booked us on a sunset Grand Canyon Tour through Redstone Tours and we couldn't have been happier. Our tour guide Sheldon picked us up at 11 am at the hotel in Sedona in a very nice "sprinter" type tour bus. The bus comfortably seats about 11 but our group was small (5 total + Sheldon) so we could practice social distancing. We all wore masks and the bus was very clean. The drive from Sedona through Oak Creek Canyon is beautiful and the temperature dropped 12 degrees from Sedona to the top of the pass! The weather was perfect and there are lots of interesting things to see along the way.
Sheldon is very knowledgeable and kept us entertained with great stories, history and geography of the area. The drive from Sedona to the Canyon is about 2 hours and we stopped twice along the way for restroom breaks and to purchase the Canyon passes.
Because of COVID 19, the Canyon was crowd was VERY light which was great for us. Sheldon took us to 4 or 5 different overlooks of the Canyon and all I can say is WOW! If you haven't seen it , you can't describe it. We then went to the Canyon Village to see El Trovar Hotel and the overlook there then we grabbed a "dinner to go" to maximize our sunset viewing time. Dinner is included in the price of the trip and it's nothing fancy but you aren't there to eat! We had about an hour to watch the sunset from a couple of different spots within walking distance and ate our picnic dinner. The views are spectacular to say the least.
After the sunset viewing, Sheldon dropped us back at the hotel around 10 pm. On the trip back, he kept us entertained with great stories about how the Canyon was formed, history of the early explorers, etc.
I really don't know how this trip could have been any better. Sedona is beautiful but Sheldon and the Canyon day trip were the icing on the cake. I can't say enough good things about the day, the tour company or Sheldon. Can't recommend this trip enough and thanks to our concierge.
