We toured with our college aged kids during their Spring Break. Our guide, Mark, was extremely friendly and abundantly informative throughout the day We anticipated that the volcanos, lava fields, and ancient ruins would be just preliminaries to the main event, but found ourselves engrossed in the geology and history of Northern Arizona. Mark's well informed narrative provided us with a deep appreciation of all that we saw and made us glad that they were part of the trip. A delicious lunch on the Navajo Nation prepared us for the afternoon stops at the Grand Canyon. The views inspire awe at the majesty of our planet and again Mark filled in historic details and geological insights that made it all the more meaningful. We enjoyed stopping at a number of view points around the east and south rims of the canyon to gain a greater appreciation of the immensity of the wonder. All in all this was a great experience for the family and a fantastic way to experience the Grand Canyon and Northern Arizona.

Our tour guide Al was very knowledgable about the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Arizona in general. We had a great morning driving up to Sunset Crater, visiting the Wupatki National Monument, and having lunch at Cameron Trading Post. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse, and on our way up 64 to the Desert View Watchtower at the eastern end of the South Rim, we drove into a blizzard. The van started to slide once or twice, but Al kept a cool head and drove us safely through what we hoped was just an isolated snow storm. By the time we got to Desert View, there were 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and visibility was maybe 100 feet. The park rangers said 64 was clear at the moment, although there was snow and perhaps ice. After waiting nearly 30 minutes to see if the snow blew through, we decided to be safe rather than sorry and headed back to Sedona. Within minutes of that decision, I received an email from Viator informing me that Ma Pa Tours had fully refunded our tour. Al got us safely back to Sedona and we gave him a nice tip as the bad weather wasn't his fault. We were able to drive back up to the Grand Canyon on our own the next day in much finer weather, and while we enjoyed it, we knew having a guide would have made the trip that much better. 4/5 stars if only because of the weather and our choosing to cut the trip short, but 5/5 stars for Ma Pa Tours and their courteous professionalism. We would definitely recommend using them, and we would use them again ourselves.

Thank you so much for the great comments about your trip with Al. We're so sorry the weather didn't cooperate. (Mother Nature sometimes has her own agenda.) But we're so glad you were able to enjoy some of the other sites along the way and eventually see Grand Canyon. Come back and see us again soon!
