What To Expect
1
Route 66
After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.
2
Williams Depot
Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.
3
Grand Canyon National Park
Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking.

We enjoyed a terrific (albeit long) day on the Grand Canyon tour. We didn't go on helicopter tour, but couple who did said it was SPECTACULAR and worth every penny! Our driver, Montana, was FABULOUS! He has a wealth of information regarding Arizona and Grand Canyon, good funny jokes. Montana was thoroughly entertaining on the very long drive. The lunches are plentiful and great quality (I had the veggie/cheese plate and it was HUGE). I got to ride "shotgun" which was sooo nice! Definitely would have rather had a wee bit more time in Grand Canyon, versus the Williams stop (I read other reviews, so I understand fascination with Route 66, plus the lunches are picked up in Williams). I love that we could wander on our own a bit instead of having to follow someone around the whole time. It is a very long drive to get to Grand Canyon from Phoenix, that is the reality, so anyone expecting/wanting more time should rent a car and stay overnight. For the rest of us, I HIGHLY recommend this tour. We absolutely can't say enough good things about our driver, Montana! Great way to spend my 62 birthday week! Thank you and hello from Minnesota!!!

Great tour but Maverick Helicopters not aware that $15 fuel surcharge was already included in the aviator booking - that needs to be reaffirmed with them.
