What To Expect
1
Route 66
After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.
2
Williams Depot
Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.
3
Grand Canyon National Park
Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking.

What an excellent day from the morning pick up until we were back in the evening. John was our driver and guide, providing excellent information all the way! I can't even begin to tell you what a wonderful job John did. We realized as we arrived at the Grand Canyon that our son left his glasses at one of the stops on the way up. After confirming they found the glasses we mentioned to John if there was anyway possible to stop on the way back to pick them up it would be great, but we understood if that was not possible. John made the stop on the way home, we ran to get the glasses and kept going. What an outstanding guide and awesome person!

Thank you for joining us for a tour of the Grand Canyon and for taking a moment to share your experience. Or thrilled to hear that John, your driver and guide, was able to provide excellent information along the way, and that he was able to help you recover your son’s glasses, as well. We hope to see you all on another one of our tours departing from Phoenix or Las Vegas, in the near future.

The tour was awesome! Montana was our driver and guide and he was amazing! Very funny and knowledgeable. I was a little concerned about it taking so long to get there and back in a car but the scenic views and entertainment from Montana made it seem like nothing. The helicopter tour was expensive but well worth it. I highly recommend as it will be something you will never forget!

There are no words to describe the feeling when you are hovering above Grand Canyon, don't forget to breathe! And start from a day with amazing guide Joe, who makes all of the journey very interesting and fun, making sure to take care of every step of the journey. He is very helpful and wonderful. I do believe having helicopter and ground experience, taken care of by Joe, makes an overall smooth and vastly memorable time. I deeply enjoyed it and will tell anyone, do not hesitate to invest into helicopter. After all, Grand Canyon is one of 7 world wonders. And it is for a reason. No picture or video can do the judgment. Last but not the least, stopping in Route 66 has made a great and fun addition to the trip, since I have met incredible people there and had tons of fun even in this short 1hour span! Thank you Joe, and Detours! Karolina
