Louis Armstrong Park

Join your guide on a tour of this fascinating park celebrating all things Jazz! Along the way, you’ll learn about its name-sake and how he helped craft the sounds of jazz, see a variety of sculptures, monuments, and historic buildings, and possibly even hear some live jazz played by one of New Orleans’ famous street musicians or local musical groups.

Congo Square

A park within a park, Congo Square, is incredibly historically significant to both African American history and to jazz music. Your guide will fill you in on how this Square came to be and all of the incredible music that we can appreciate today because of the men and women who gathered here.

The Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts

This is the hub of all things performing arts in New Orleans - from ballet to opera to touring Broadway shows. As you pass by, your guide will fill you in on Mahalia Jackson’s illustrious gospel career and the building’s history (especially after Hurricane Katrina).

I was lucky to be guided by Valerie, who showed her broad knowledge about the history of jazz and the musicians, in particular about those from New Orleans. She showed me the hidden places connected to the jazz musicians. Frankly, I would recommend the tour for everyone !

Logan + Valerie were very knowledgeable and informative. Valerie went through so much detail about the city, it's rich history, and then Logan would add to the experience with music knowledge + playing his trumpet in the park. It was so wonderful!

Val was great!! She was very knowledgeable about origins of jazz over the last hundreds of years. She's very passionate about New Orleans and the musicians that have made the city what it is today. You'll also receive bonus stories about culture, food, and religion. Biggest perk was that my boyfriend and I booked small group tour and we're the only ones. Val said her small groups are often like this or are truly small. We went in the middle of Sunday afternoon.
