Small Group Kayak Tour of the Shell Key Preserve

Overview
Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. Come explore with local professionals who love what they do and see the difference for yourself.

My young adult daughter and college son and I took this tour and all agreed it was our favorite activity of our week in Florida. Our guide Doug was fantastic. He made a point to speak to each member of our tour and made everyone feel a part of the experience. He also struck the perfect balance of telling us about the area and the animals and letting us also have quite to appreciate all we were seeing. The flock of cormorants that followed us were amusing and fun to interact with. We saw many birds, Including pelicans, ibis, herons and watched an osprey catch it's lunch. The mangrove tunnels were beautiful and we all found sand dollars on Shell key. To top it all off, we saw a pair of dolphins just as we exited the last tunnel. Thank you Doug for a great afternoon.

Dolphins, cormorants, mangroves! Thank you so much for the great review. We really appreciate you taking time to share your experience. Our small group trips are meant to provide a more personalized experience and it sounds like Doug did just that. We hope to see you on your next visit. Thanks again!

We had a very good, fun and informational afternoon. Ryan was an excellent guide and a wealth of information about the environment and history of Shell Key and the Ft. DeSoto area. He and Ross made the process easy from start to finish. Safety was emphasized from beginning to end and each participant's skill level was considered for each segment of the trip.

It was our first time kayaking and Doug our tour guide made it easy, educational and fun. What a great way to experience Florida nature up close ... from kayaking through mangroves to exploring Shell Island youā€™ll see fish, crab and birds up close. Highly recommend ... canā€™t wait to go back.

Mary, it was a pleasure having you and Joe out with us to explore the Shell Key Preserve. The small groups are a wonderful way to get a personalized experience while out on the water, especially for beginners and less experienced kayakers. We love to hear that your first time out was a hit. Thank you for the wonderful review and can't wait to see you both again!
