Join Coastal Kayak Charters for a small group guided kayak tour of the Shell Key Preserve. We are St Pete's top rated kayak tour company and focus exclusively on small groups and private tours. Our trips offer more personalized service and better wildlife viewing opportunities while out on the water. We will explore hidden mangrove tunnels (tides permitting), shallow seagrass meadows, and stop on Shell Island for time to swim, look for shells, or just relax and enjoy the beach. Our tours are designed for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. We use stable user friendly kayaks that provide a great paddling experience. We primarily use double kayaks unless you have an odd number in your group. If you prefer single kayaks they are available through our website. **Weight Limit** 250lbs per seat | 450lbs combined for double kayaks.

*Ages 3+ | 3-12 must be in a double kayak with an adult or older child.

*Please arrive to launch site 30min early, there are no public facilities available at site.

A pleasant but windy afternoon tour. Unexpected wind should be expected so keep that in mind, as it was almost too much for my older guests. The mangrove tunnels offered not only a respite from the wind but also a unique perspective of the inner coastal. I had planned on SUPing this tour but glad I opted for the kayak because the tunnels are low and can be tricky to navigate. Tracey, our guide, was pleasant, personable and helpful. Her sidekick, Kevin the Cormorant & friends offered an up close and personal wildlife experience. We also saw a small pod of dolphin as we were launching, a giant live lightning whelk and Sandkey beach was a treasure trove of shells. We would have liked a little more history, education, or facts about the area but other than that, it was a lovely cruise!

Taylor was great! We went in group of five and she was super helpful and caring. The tour itself was fun and she gave us plenty of time to recover, it was amazing!!

My husband and I went on the three hour tour of Shell Key Preserve! It was spectacular weather and our tour guide Tracey was exceptional! She lead us through mangrove tunnels and a private beach. She fished out a crab for us to see and got in the water to get a sea slug for us to see and touch! We were all amazed to see the cormorant birds aka Kevin joined us diving under our boats! The drop location is easy to find and lots of kayaks! We had a fantastic day even though I didn’t get to see any manatees!
