Small-Group Malibu Wine Hike

Overview
The hike is a guided 2.5 mile loop around the property where you will get to walk through the vines, see amazing views, visit our Chumash Native American cave paintings, and explore our organic garden. The hike is considered easy to moderate with about 300 feet of elevation gain and loss. This tour is open for all ages, however due to the terrain we cannot allow strollers or wagons. At the end of the tour guests will receive a 375 ML bottle of wine to-go.

Our guide, Haley, was wonderful. It was hot in July, but she was very accommodating for us oldsters. She is very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about wine making and the flora, fauna and history of the area. The wine was delicious, especially the Sauvignon Blanc. We would definitely do it again.

My husband, 19-year-old daughter, and I were in LA for just a few days and tried to pack in a bunch of fun. The Malibu Wine Hike was our favorite thing hands down. The scenery was like something out of a magazine and our guide, Kurt, made things fun and informative as we stopped along the way to see the sights and learn about the vineyard. He was also great about helping each group take pictures. If you're going... ask for Kurt. He's great! The hike was not overly challenging and we took a few nice breaks along the way to catch our breath. On one stop, we relaxed beneath a covered pavilion for a wine tasting. It was good exercise, but overall felt more relaxing than strenuous. We will definitely be back when we visit the area again. Only one small drawback... you couldn't purchase the wine they produce on site. But we will be grabbing some online soon.

Saturday I had the weirdest racial experience at Malibu Wine. Showed up with my guy. When we arrived we were both given a red wristband. And as we waited with about 40 ppl one thing became glaringly clear...only the black ppl had red wristbands. Malibu Wine has actually segregated our tour and it’s so evident and truly crazy. We also know there must have some mandate, spoken or unspoken and clearly they don’t think brown ppl can drink wine and look at bougie scenery if we integrate. You should do better in 2000 now. Nice hike bad racism.

Zrahiim, Firstly I would like to say that I am so sorry that you had this experience while visiting Malibu Wine Hikes. As the owner of Malibu Wine Hikes, and and as the company as a whole, I would like to say that Racism and or segregation is absolutely unacceptable. I can assure you that we do not facilitate or encourage an environment where this would be allowed. I would like to share some insight on how our check-in and wristband system works, to assure you there is no independent or systemic racism at our establishment. The wristbands are color coded based upon the hike guide, time slot and type of hike people purchase through our website. That way our guides know who booked what type of hike and what time they are scheduled to depart. As you mentioned there were approximately 40 other people checking at the same time. Since we do not take groups out larger than 15 people per guide than we separated that large group based upon the type and times of the tickets people purchased. If you have any questions or concerns about our manifest I would be happy to clarify to you in a direct line of communication via email or phone. Again, I am so sorry you experienced these feelings but want you to know that that racism or any form exclusion and or segregation is not our policy. I would love discuss further and hopefully to shed some light on the situation to make sure you have an enjoyable experience before during an after your visit to Malibu Wine Hikes.
