My favorite part of the trip was the black beach and watching the sea turtles come on shore to dry the seaweed on their shells. The turtles come on shore to burn off the seaweed. There are so many beautiful plants on the narrow winding road to Hana. Our tour guide, Ernie Enovijas, was a verbal library. He knew plant life and the history of the island. Our group came away well informed. I suggest packing clothes to change into after swimming at the black beach. I would make sure to take sunglasses, water shoes, and maybe a snack. Sit back and enjoy the ride. This tour is worth the experience. We had a great tour guide.

Our tour guide was Paul and he gave a very interesting history lesson to this history nerd about Maui! This is definitely one of the most comfortable ways to see Hana with breakfast and lunch included. Paul knew some hidden gems along the way even the ones that other tour guides passed right in front of us. We stopped the bus several times to take great scenic shots that you’ll only find during the Road to Hana. We also stopped at the Halfway to Hana store which is a must! The shaved ice and banana bread are amazing! We only wish the breakfast and lunch stops were quicker so we could spend a bit more time in the waterfalls and the black sand beach — so if you’re with your group, hopefully collectively you can decide to speed up breakfast and lunch so you can spend more time at the stops for more pictures and also just to soak up the sun!
