Small-Group Tour: San Francisco City Tour Including Muir Woods and Sausalito

Overview

This combo tour consists of 2 parts: A tour to Muir Woods and Sausalito and San Francisco City tour.
Two different tours are run by either one or two different drivers and usually, there is a 30-minute break between them. It can start with either Woods or the city depending on the number of bookings.
On the way to the Woods, you will cross the Golden Gate bridge and make a short stop to take pictures of the bridge, the bay, and downtown San Francisco.
Then we will drive you to the Muir Woods where you will spend 1hr 20 minutes walking and seeing the tallest trees in the world.
Then we will take you to Sausalito where you will spend 1 hour strolling the waterfront, visiting art galleries and souvenir shops, or having lunch.
We will take you back to the city and you will enjoy the city tour that lasts about 3.5 to 4 hours.
You will see all the major attractions of this World Class city with one of our experienced tour guides. He will make 4-5 stops to take pictures.

Golden Gate Bridge

Muir Woods National Monument

Enjoy the natural beauty of Coastal Sequoias! Muir Woods National Monument is a National Monument named after naturalist John Muir. It is located on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast in SW Marin County and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just 12 miles (19 km) north of SF. It protects 554 acres (224 ha) of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, the tallest living objects on Earth. Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the forest is regularly shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog. It remains cool and moist year-round with daytime temperatures averaging between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (4 to 21 °C). Millions of years ago ancestors of redwood and sequoia trees grew throughout North America. Today, the Sequoia sempervirens can be found only in a narrow, cool coastal belt from Monterey County, California, in the south to Oregon in the north.

Strategically located on Pacific Coast HW, it was home to Ferries, running to Hyde Str. Pier in SF. During WWII it was home to a major Marinship shipyard where the Liberty ships were built. In the late 1960s, the houseboat communities occupied the waterfront along and adjacent to Sausalito's shore. you can take the Great Seafood Restaurants! Art Galleries!

Some how our tour need to split up in two days. We west our one day. It was our only two days trip. But tour Driver gives us so many information. Very knowledgeable person.

There were 4 in our group and we were in a comfortable van with an additional 4 -6 guests during most of the tour. We wound up being great friends with the ones we met on the van during the tour. Our driver picked us up promptly at the meeting place just across the street from our hotel. The van was clean and comfortable. The driver/ tour guide was friendly and informative. We stopped at a few places on the way to Muir Woods during the morning portion of the tour. The driver was very accommodating in taking photos of everyone at the Golden Gate Bridge. He told us information about the area, the building of the bridge, Sausalito, and the area surrounding Muir Woods Park. We were given 90 minutes to tour the Muir Woods, which is how long the park service allows vehicles to park there, from what I've read. The park is amazing and peaceful and was about the right amount of time to enjoy the area. We left Muir Woods and drove into Sausalito and had about 50 minutes for lunch. He recommended a couple of places right on the harbor and we had hamburgers at the hamburger restaurant he mentioned. They were HUGE and delicious! Plenty large enough for a couple to share! We were driven back to our pick-up point and were told our afternoon driver/guide would pick us up in 90 minutes. Enough time to go back across the street to our hotel, rest a bit, etc, and be ready for the afternoon tour. Our afternoon driver arrived promptly in a different van, but equally as clean and comfortable. He was friendly and super interesting and funny as well. He showed us everything a tourist would normally see in SF for about 3-4 hours. He enjoyed his job and it certainly showed. We saw the wonderful neighborhoods of SF, as well as the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge, the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts. We toured until it was dark and unable to see any more of the neighborhoods. It was a wonderful tour, both morning and evening and while maybe a bit pricey, it allowed us to see so much more than we could have ever seen in the limited time we had in SF.
