Our new heated (during winter), luxury pontoon aims to amp up the manatee sighting and deliver a more personal event! Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

We had a wonderful time on our tour with River Ventures. We did the Semi-Private Premium houseboat 4 hour-long tour and it was incredible. Captain Mike and Jose took great care of us and were friendly and knowledgeable. They really kept the manatees' best interest in mind during the whole tour, making sure that we got up close and personal with the manatees in a way that wasn't disruptive for the manatees. Jose did a great job not only guiding us but making sure everyone got photos with the manatee. He took some awesome pictures! They had plenty of snacks and drinks for everyone, and the heater was so nice after our swim. I'd highly recommend this tour and our captain and guide- we had a great time!

Went on the 4 hour manatee trip with the heated pontoon boat (worth the extra money!) and had the most amazing experience. Captain Wade and in water guide, Trish, were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Trisha found all the sweet spots where tons of manatees were hanging out. Both baby and adult manatees were in full force playing and hanging around the boats. Seriously the best trip ever, I would highly recommend!

I cannot say enough about how amazing this experience was! The whole staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. From the moment I called to find the best time to come to the actual day we arrived; so great! Our captain, Emerson, knew just where to go to spot the manatees and our guide, Heidi, was equally as great 💜 Heidi guides us through our first encounter yet and was close by if we needed anything. And she took so many great pictures and videos! Emerson had a nice warm boat with coffee, hot coco, and snacks waiting for us. We could tell both of them care about keeping the manatees happy and healthy AND allowing us to have the best experience ever!! I will be coming back, for sure!
