Our new heated (during winter), luxury pontoon aims to amp up the manatee sighting and deliver a more personal event! Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

What a great team all around! Captain "Miracle" Mike and our guide Shanna were incredible. We encountered a number of manatees and were able to interact for a long time. I had not snorkeled in 30 years and had an issue forgetting to breathe only through my nose, but Shanna worked with me to get through it and feel comfortable. The boat was very nice and comfortable, with snacks and hot and cold drinks available. We learned a lot about manatees and the environments they need and how the grass helps keep the river so clean. Also the springs around the area are amazing to see. This is a group that knows what they are doing and cares about their customers - the photos and videos are fantastic too. They have a huge variety of wetsuits and sizes, clean equipment, and even had prescription masks available. We will go back for scallop season and will highly recommend this group to our friends!

The Manatee ‼️We got to get up close to her and swim with her for a couple of hours. Liz and Liz made a great team. They were patient and encouraging. We had people from 70’s to 5 and everyone had a great time

The staff were very friendly and gave detailed information about what to expect on the tour. The captain Max took us out to the crystal river springs and within 10 minutes he found a manatee. I spent an hour viewing a manatee eating seagrass and floating in the springs . We spent the second hour of the tour with 3 more manatees. I saw a mother , the calf and another manatee. This is my third time on a river ventures tour and I can say this was a memorable experience and I would definitely come there again. Highly recommended for people that love wildlife and adventure.
