Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

Another wonderful and exciting visit to River Ventures with Captain Troy and our new best friend Heidi! This year we brought everyone and we were NOT disappointed. From the beautiful indoor staff to our amazing boat crew the day only got better by the many manatees we were privileged to see. I can’t recommend this company enough, they are kind and courteous and always have the manatee’s best interest in mind. Mom booked another tour for February and we’ll all be back next Christmas! Troy and Heidi are the best and can’t wait to see them again. Thank you!

This is my third mana-venture with River Ventures and once again, they did not disappoint. It was a nice balmy 45 degrees so I knew the chances of seeing manatee would be good and sure enough Captain Tanner knew where to find them..... First location was too crowded for his liking so we went to another spot and practically had the place to ourselves. I had the fortunate advantage of connecting with a super playful female who was interested in nothing but getting belly rubs....... For over a full hour I was blessed to be completely alone and lost in the experience with this playful girl - it was EPIC. Our mana-tastic in water guide, Scheena, took time away from the rest of the group to get some pictures of me and this playful beauty...... She is a manatee whisperer- legit, not joking these creatures FLOCKED to her and wherever she swam - they swam too !!!!! I keep using River Ventures bc it is evident they want every single customer to have a life-changing experience and to enjoy these fabulous creatures the way they get to everyday - it's clear they love what they do and that will come across in your tour. I can't wait to make more mana-tastic memories next year. Thanks again River Ventures for being so mana-tabulous !!!!!!

Jose and Mike where absolutely amazing! They gave us an award winning tour. We arrived to do the small in service of manatee safety then we hit the boat. There was hot chocolate, hot coffee, and snacks on board for our party of 6. We then gently moved into the water where we were greeted by at least 5 manatees per person. The time flew by. I love manatee KISSES!!! Thank you Jose and Mike for the over the moon experience!
