Our new heated (during winter), luxury pontoon aims to amp up the manatee sighting and deliver a more personal event! Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

We were so looking forward to this excursion. Tanner was at the helm and Heidi was our guide. Due to some inclement weather rolling in, the manatees were a bit difficult to spot, but Tanner was able to find a few for us and the experience was fantastic. These gentle giants were friendly, curious and swimming with them is awe inspiring. We had a young boy 5 years old on our tour and Heidi kept him entertained and had him floating with her on her back whenever we went into the water. We learned quite a bit about manatees as well as the local eco system. Highly recommend the smaller VIP tour. The intimacy allows for more interaction with the guides.

My daughter and I agree that we will be booking tours with River Ventures every time we come to Florida! This was our second tour with River Ventures and it was better than the first - which was pretty awesome! Captain Tanner and our guide, Tom, were informative and funny. For the 6 person tour, we were paired with a grandmother and active child. Tom was patient and kept him occupied so everyone could enjoy the experience. We saw manatees from the moments we arrived at King's Spring and couldn't have asked for better interactions. We reluctantly left to see Three Sister's Spring. The water was crystal clear but much fewer manatees. Next year, we intended to stay our entire vacation in the area and try other tours offered by River Ventures. Thank you, Tanner, Tom, and River Ventures for an amazing experience and incredible memories!

We had an amazing day swimming with the manatees and swimming in the crystal clear springs. We had the vip trip with John.S and Tom. They were so friendly and informative. A great experience.
