Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

What To Expect

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

We had an amazing time with River Ventures. Thanks to our captain John Stark and our guide Crystal. You two were awesome and made this morning so special. It was 6:45 when we started, we were still a little bit tired from a 2 hours drive to River Venture from Orlando, but as we started, everything was just so inspiring. We saw lots of manatees, turtles, birds, fresh water springs and so much nature. Floating with the manatees was just amazing. Crystal was an awesome guide, showed us all the animals, explained a lot and made great pictures even underwater. John Stark made us safely swimmung on the boat through crystal river, he was joking arround and always helped us where he was able to. Thanks a lot. We will come back.

We saw some photos of the manatees that visit inland rivers during the colder months of the year and planned our Thanksgiving week in Florida with a swim tour with these docile beasts. Our tour guide Jamie and captain John, who we affectionally called Arthur, were both great hosts with a lot of knowledge about manatees and the Crystal River Refuge. We saw several manatees over our 4 hour private tour. Also, we enjoied coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks and snacks provided with our tour. We found water proof cell phone holders at the tour office and bought 3 for our group of 6. These were great, allowing us to take pictures under water with our phones. However, Jamie took much better pictures than we did, so we bought the on-line picture package too. We highly recommend this tour. It was amazing.
