The views were absolutely gorgeous with a clear blue sky, but the narration and level of service to ensure our comfort and safety is what makes this tour one of the best anywhere in the world. Chris and Douglas shared insights of Hawaiian culture, history and language as hosts of their beloved island in the true aloha spirit. Chris was our guide for most of the day, making sure we were comfortable with plenty of water, granola bars for snacks, AC setting in van, safety at waterfall where we went into water, and very accurate rest room ratings. He was a fantastic guide, had a wealth of information being a native and geologist as well as having an education background. He was engaging and delightful, and his pronunciation of Hawaiian language makes me want to learn it! All of the waterfalls were amazing, and it was fun to get into the water at one of them to get closer to the falls. Douglas is also a native Hawaiian who drove us safely down the steep road and across streams into the depths of Waipio Valley, making sure we saw wild horses. He shared with us history and botany, stopping in the perfect positions and with plenty of time to capture the valley’s jewels in pictures. The provided lunch was tasty and filling, which was important since the day was 10 hours pickup to drop off. We had fresh macadamia nuts and got an amazing tasting lime at the farm in the afternoon. Chris took us to Tex Drive In to allow us to buy a melt-in-your-mouth treat, a malasada. We loved them so much that we returned later in the week for lunch and another! Thank you Wasabi Tours Hawaii and especially Chris and Douglas for sharing your beloved island with us!
