Monday morning, Feb 18, we went on the Wasabi Tour. This tour was amazing and well worth the expense. I loved how well organized it was and the setup of three part components: First, we were introduced to our tour guide Dreu, then we met Gary, who drove us down into the Waipio Valley, and then back up to continue the rest of the tour with Dreu. I appreciated the care and concern of how Gary, safely and expertly guided us down the steep and narrow terrain for the trip down into the Waipio Valley. What we saw down there was way too beautiful to describe with words alone. You have to see it with your own eyes and heart to believe it. Dreu, our tour guide for most of the tour, is a ball of enthusiasm, fire, light, respect and knowledge of Hawaiian customs, ways and culture.I very much enjoyed how well he took care of us. I very much enjoyed the incredible reservoir of knowledge that he shared with us about the history, topography, flora and fauna of the Big Island. He went out of his way to help us to appreciate the wonderful things that Hilo, Waimea, Kahala and the Hamakua area has to offer. You can tell this is not just a job for him, but, a labor of love. I would do this tour again, for sure!

Our trip was everything it was promoted to be. Drew was our guide and he was excellent. His level of knowledge was very impressive and made the trip much more interesting. Waipio Valley was the highlight of the trip for me, but all the locations in the tour were worth the price. The only downside was not getting to swim at one of the falls due to heavy rainfall the night before. If you are looking for an inexpensive, full day on the Big Island, you can't go wrong with this choice.
