My husband and I did the Platypus Napa Valley wine tour on Saturday 15th December. Our driver Rob was lovely from the first moment he picked us up. He was friendly and very knowledgeable of all the wineries and shared with us interesting facts between each winery as well. Lunch was provided on the tour which was plentiful and healthy. Each winery we visited had their own back story and of course a great selection of wine to taste! Thank you for making this wine tour a memorable one. :)

FIVE STARS people! Where do I even begin to describe my first time ever visiting Napa Valley and the unforgettable experience Gary from Platypus Wine Tours gave us... Let me start with how we discovered PWT. As first time visitors to Napa Valley, My friends and I decided to meet on the west coast for a birthday/friendsgiving trip. We all live in different states and me being the farthest in Saint Petersburg, FL, I wanted to enjoy the short time we had here. When we checked into our hotel, we had no plans LOL! Like nothing planned. NADA. We didn't know where to eat, or what to do, or where to go. But all three of us are very open and willing to go with the flow. So we got into the Uber and asked our driver her best recommendations. Here, I will have to give full credit to our Uber driver for recommending us to a restaurant downtown which ultimately led us walking by the information center where we met Kelly, who highly recommended Platypus Wine Tours. Don't you love how things work out like that! I won't go into detail of every vineyard we stopped or the gorgeous views we saw or even the delicious wine tasting or the amazing people (I could go all day about them)!! I will however, go into great detail about Gary, our tour guide. He was our fearless leader, wine tour expert, and entertainment of the day. His personality and charisma was exceptional along with his knowledge of the vineyards and histories of each one. He catered to us as if he was hosting his own wine tasting and always asked if we were enjoying everything. When we visited each winery, you could tell the hosts were happy to see Gary and always made nice compliments about him. Gary was truly the reason why my friends and I had a great experience. It will never matter where you go or what you do but the company you are with that makes the experience. Thank you, Gary! For everything. We will be back!

This is the second tour we’ve taken with Platypus (we did the Sonoma County one in November 2017...and this year we covered Napa Valley). It is super easy to schedule visits to the big/high profile wineries yourself....what stands out in our experience with Platypus is the benefit of having a ‘curated’ tour of smaller producers (and in a far more cost effective way than using Uber/taxi to get around). Certainly for the ‘non-corporate’ wineries, the drivers’ personal relationships with the winery staff/owners means the group gets attention - including more ‘behind the scenes’ access. We typically plan an annual long weekend in the valley: our intention is now always to set aside a day for Platypus. Easygoing and knowledgeable drivers, interesting and ‘off the beaten track’ destinations - an absolute ‘must do’.
