What to Expect: We care about your health and safety. Please note that as of August 19, 2021, New York City is requiring a COVID-19 vaccination for admission to the Guggenheim for anyone who is eligible. At arrival, you will need to present valid vaccination documentation and a photo ID prior to gaining entry to the museum. Proof of vaccination may include NYC COVID Safe app, New York State Excelsior Pass, CDC Vaccination Card (or photo), NYC Vaccination Record, or an official immunization record from outside NYC or the U.S. More information can be found here. Children below the age of 12 will be allowed in with a vaccinated adult.

You’ll need to wear a three-ply mask regardless of vaccination status — staff is required to, too — practice social distancing, wash or sanitize your hands frequently, and pack light as our coat check is temporarily closed. Please plan ahead and read COVID-19 Safety Measures:

Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

An internationally renowned art museum and one of the most significant architectural icons of the 20th century, the Guggenheim Museum in New York is at once a vital cultural center, an educational institution, and the heart of an international network of museums. We all know the Guggenheim is a ‘must see’ if you’re in New York but honestly, I’d save your money ($50 for my husband and I to go in) and just admire it from the outside. It’s a nice building and the architecture is lovely but you’re basically paying to walk up a glorified ramp once you’re in (it’s a spiral walkway). As for the art, if your name is Willow, you wear socks with your Birkenstock’s and have to think twice on whether to shave your armpits then this is probably the place for you. It’s quite a hipster sort of place, somewhere where you can pretend to know what you’re staring at whilst simultaneously raving about the worlds injustices but we all know that really you’re thinking ‘what the .....?!?’. An example of this was a grey square laid on the floor with a little spiral of grey coming from each corner. See what I mean by ‘what the.....?!?’ Another would be the desk with a light bulb above it. Perhaps I’m missing something but if you want real art I’d go to the Met!

I love exploring Museums and Art Galleries and this is one of my favourite New York Museums not only because of its outstanding design by Frank Lloyd Wright but because it had an eclectic mix of fine exhibitions of pairings sculptures and photography. You are allowed to take photos without using a flash but I do recommend you ask the permission of the uniformed staff. I found the more mature aged staff more knowledgeable than several of the younger staff who had definitely not familiarised themselves with the location of certain exhibitions. Overall an excellent afternoon!

I really liked its pieces of art and the exclusive exposition. Really nice building and amenities. I was checking and admiring every single floor of it and I loved it!
