Hop aboard this historical replica of a San Francisco cable car and grab a seat on a special wine tasting adventure you will never forget. This open-air trolley will let you experience the picturesque vineyards like no other tour. On this tour, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will take you to three wineries for tastings. You will visit Sonoma's top historic landmarks and enjoy lunch during one of the scenic stops. The tour starts at 10:00 and and ends around 4:30.

What To Expect

Sonoma Valley

Your day in California wine country starts as you hop aboard the Sonoma Wine Trolley, modeled after the famous historical cable cars of San Francisco. Enjoy the breeze as your knowledgeable tour guide whisks you off to four outstanding Sonoma-area wineries, known for both their wines and their hospitality. Each wine tasting takes place at the winery and a representatives at each winery will explain the different varietals you’ll sample and the background of the wineries (wine tasting fees are not included and you can expect fees of $30 to $40). There will be wonderful photo opportunities on this tour and your friendly guide will be happy to take a photo or two of your group so you can document your memorable day in wine country.

While the Wine Trolley served its purpose - transporting me to wineries so I didn’t have to drive myself or plan a route - there are better tours to be had in the area. The trolley is a novelty and makes for nice photos, but it’s a windy and bumpy ride. It also had mechanical issues during our tour. A woman was vomiting on the trolley before the tour started, and was allowed to stay on the tour. She was asked to wear a mask, and did so for about 10 minutes. She should have been refunded and asked to stay behind. Stay home when you’re sick! The tour “guide” is really just a driver. Mike gave us a couple of facts about Sonoma at the very beginning, and that was it. He did not stick around once he dropped us at each winery. He didn’t even make sure everyone received their lunch at VJB - the order was short and two people had to wait 15 minutes while their sandwiches were made. He also rushed us at the end, the tour was over by 3:30, not the advertised 4:30. The wineries were nice, the wine was good, the lunch was meh, the tasting fees were reasonable. But you can get that experience from any tour, it doesn’t have to be the trolley.

I recommend to any first timer to Sonoma Valley to take the trolley tour. Great way to see the countryside, as well as, visit some amazing vineyards! Driver is very knowledgable! Will definitely recommend to others.
