While you are staying in Beaufort, please take the wonderful tours given by the Spirit of Old Beaufort! The tour guides are knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area and our tour guide, Ms. Cora Newcomb, is an excellent story teller. She told us the history of old Beaufort, and wonderful stories that intertwined with history. So glad that I went on this tour!

You will learn about life in the lowcountry which is quite different from the town of Beaufort (and of course Charleston). You get to travel to obscure areas that you would never see on your own: an old cemetery, small museum, old plantation, etc. in a 3-hour drive with a very knowledgeable and intriguing, local guide that is very much worth it.

My husband and I wanted to know more about the history of this wonderful city. The Spirit of Old Beaufort Tour. Evelene, the owner, operated our tour van. It was just my husband and myself-- very slow time of year. We learned so much and were delighted to hear Evelene sing some old "Beaufort songs" a couple of times on our trip. I would highly recommend.
