Spring Rafting Trip through the Great Smoky Mountains

Overview
Spring is a beautiful time in The Great Smoky Mountains. The vegetation returns, the buds bloom in the Smoky Mountains, and there’s no better way to experience the view than rafting down the mighty Upper Pigeon River.
Between Labor Day and Memorial Day we are no longer guaranteed dam release on the Pigeon River. This doesn’t mean we do not raft the river, it just means that we are rafting at natural river flows which can be unpredictable. You may discover the rush and excitement of class 3 and 4 rapids or you may enjoy a serene, peaceful scenic trip while rafting between the Great Smoky Mountains and Cherokee national forest. Just ask our staff what the river looks like that day, and we’ll let you know.

It was our first experience rafting and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It was about 80 degrees the day of our trip and the 40+ degree water felt cold when we got splashed but not too cold; any cooler and we likely would have wanted the wetsuits. I can't swim but felt protected with the gear they provided. I took the chance to take my phone out on the water and I'm glad I did. There were calm areas, "flats", that allowed me to take out the camera (from my waterproof covering) and get some pics of the experience. I felt confident with the instructions we were given that, if someone were to fall out accidentally, that there was a definite plan to get the unfortunate soul back into the raft safely. Trey was a great guide, so funny! :) My husband and I will definitely be doing this again.

We had a blast white water rafting today at Rip Roaring Adventures...would highly recommend it! Our boat guide was Joshton and he was funny and made it even better. It was also nice to be able to take a shower and change into dry clothes after.

My favorite part of the experience was EVERYTHING ! From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, the guides were excited to see us, pumped to take out small group on the water. They taught us safety and highlighted the key points then yelled, LETS HAVE FUN !" This was an absolute thrill ride that I was able to participate in and be a part of. This is not a "ride" this will now be a life long memory and I will being added this rafting experience to my vacation every single year! Thank you Rip Roaring !! Nate
