We always book a tour of some kind (land or sea) when visiting a new city, and we figured the Land and Sea Tour was the best of both worlds.
The Land tour with Robert was fabulous! He texted us ahead of time with helpful info on where to meet. (Suggesting where to park wouldāve been a great addition to the pre-tour texts. He did say we could text him back if we had questions about anything, but weāve always been told where to park in other cities.)
We learned so much from Robert and were particularly impressed with his driving and that he included the idea that Indigenous people had claimed St. Augustine long before the Spaniards did and that he included a bit about the civil rights activity in the area as well. He even stopped on Magnolia Avenue to get a picture of each group on our tour, which turned out to be one of our favorite pictures from our vacation. 5 Stars āļø āļøāļøāļøāļø
The Sea partāat least on the day we wentāwas a little disappointing. While it was fun to see the coast from the boat, there wasnāt a whole lot of history shared. Weāre used to a steady flow of info; even when there isnāt a specific site to point out, other tour guides have used that time to share *other* history about the area. On this tour (or at least on this particular day), there was more silence than tour guidance. If we had only done the Sea tour to learn about the area, it wouldāve been very disappointing. However, if you are just looking to get out on the water, itās a pleasant cruise around the coastline . 3 stars āļøāļøāļø
If you are trying to learn about the area while staying within your travel budget and can only choose one, the Land tour is the way to go. At least from our experience.
We learned so much fromā and highly recommendātaking a land tour with Robert!
