Speed Boat Adventures is a family run operation that allows 2 or 3 people to drive a small power boat. Don't let the size turn you off. These things go fast! The typical setup is that each boat will follow the leader in its wake while each boat has a speaker so they can receive instructions and information about the sights during the tour. The tour will take you on a stroll through the Tampa Bay area and show off some famous sites. You will also get to take some sweet S turns at decent speeds, providing a real thrill. We were fortunate enough to go on a beautiful day in January and it was warm. Some people may consider a windbreaker to protect from the wind, which can be chilling at the speeds the boat go. Also, at the halfway point in the trip, the riders have the opportunity to alternate the driver. My 60+ year old father was able to drive the boat with no difficulty, so I can gladly recommend this as an experience for all ages. The owners and tour guides were very professional and friendly. Following a brief safety and informational session which lasts about 15 minutes, you're ready to get going. The overall boat ride was about 90 minutes and is just about the right length. I definitely plan to go back in the future.

This is a thrilling activity for those who like some adventure (and getting wet). Unlike most speedboat tours, you get to drive your own speedboat. Initially I thought, it would be a lame "cruise behind the leader" thing but it actually turned out to be quite thrilling. Due to the Orange bowl game, my friend and I were the only visitors during our time slot. The guide (I think his name was Chris) was extremely courteous and ensured we received clear and concise instructions and signals, both on land and on the water. The cruise lasted for 2.5-3 hours and we got to drive quite a bit. There were several lengthy durations of full power racing in the open bay. coupled with some sightseeing and relaxing cruises through low speed areas. We didn't see any dolphins but did see a good variety of birds. The boats themselves are easy to operate and very responsive. All in all, I would say it was worth every bit of time and money and I would definitely try out a similar tour elsewhere or in Tampa if I visit again.

My wife and I decided to take a speed boat tour as part of our anniversary celebration. My wife was a little leary at first but after getting checked in with the great staff and crew at Speed Boat Adventures she was eagerly ready to get under way. We both had a great time touring the water ways. Chris our tour guide was awesome. Very friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable. I would recommend using Speed Boat Adventures for you adventure tour destination in the Tampa/St. Pete area.
