It is one of the most well known fountains in the world, and the statue at its center was the only sculpture to have been commissioned as a part of Central Park's original design. This neoclassical sculpture, also known as Angel of the Waters, features an eight-foot bronze angel who stands above four small cherubim representing health, purity, temperance, and peace. The angel herself carries a lily in one hand while the other remains outstretched, poised in the action of delivering a blessing on the water pouring from around her feet and into the basin at the bottom of the fountain. This is to commemorate the 1842 opening of the Croton Aqueduct, which supplied New York City with fresh water.

Ilhan was an amazing guide, and it was such a fun experience. We will definitely be doing it again soon.

I usually hate the rain and cold, but this day was an exception. We’ve never been to Central Park so this was magical even in the rain. Our guide, Luiz was very knowledgeable and friendly. The meeting spot was easy to find, and Luiz was punctual and let us stop to take pictures when we wanted. The horse was sweet, but had a little feisty ‘tude sometimes and didn’t want to stop moving sometimes lol. I would definitely recommend this. The only thing I’ll say is that it was 35 minutes not the full 45!

Tour guide was awesome and even took many of our pics at the stops. We came on a rainy day and he even had blankets to warm up in. It was a great experience!
