Street Art of Portland 2-Hour Bike Tour

Overview
Portland's street art culture is older than any of us, but until the past decade, the culture was a shadowy one. Thanks to support from a strong collective of street artists, the inner Eastside is the heart of the intense, passionate street art scene. Start in that heart, where we will safely fit you for a bike and helmet, ready for a sweet 6-8 mile/10-13 km ride to visit some of the oldest art forms and canvases (wheat paste and an incredible user-created skate park) and some of the newest (cool spray paint styles and brand-new buildings made for art).

You'll learn about graffiti culture and some of our long-time favorite artists and the city's newest darlings, visit cool old import shops filled with art inside and out, learn how the art culture is connected to the protest scene, stop for a special treat, and leave with our recipe for wheat paste and a phone packed with vibrant photos!

Bikes, helmets and water provided.

What To Expect
1
Hawthorne
After fitting for a bike and helmet at Around Portland Tours' shop at 833 SE Main #121, we'll head out to the streets of Portland for a slow-paced ride through the Central Eastside industrial district. We'll ride into the Hawthorne District, past one of the newest food cart pods.
2
Cargo
The import shop is such a haven for artists, that its building has long played host to one of the most colorful and popular pieces of street art.
3
Hawthorne Bridge
We'll ride under the east side of the Hawthorne Bridge, and learn why this iconic structure might go up and down, with no big ship underneath it. Under the bridge is a rich canvas for street artists
4
Portland
The inner eastside industrial district is a profusion of art. Nearly every building is a canvas ā€” either unauthorized or authorized. Weā€™ll stop multiple times in the inner eastside to describe, discuss and photograph our favorite pieces.

We loved this tour by Everett! What a cool way to explore the industrial side of Portland. Everett had such great enthusiasm for Portland street art with the added bonus of tid bits about the real history of Portland. Thanks for a lovely afternoon! -Jackie and Sara

Excellent! An absolutely fabulous way to see parts of the city you may ordinarily overlook. Being taken around by a local, itā€™s just the best way to discover somewhere new to us travellers. It was a very easy bike ride, very easy pace, and Iā€™m not a keen rider! A must do!
