Street Food Tour of South Lake Union

Overview
Experience the heart of Seattle’s tech center through the lens of a culinary walking tour. Over the last decade, this historical neighborhood has become home to the expansive Amazon and Google campuses—and, consequently, a vibrant street food scene that beckons both tech denizens and Seattleites who crave some of the city’s best noshes—from hand-rolled sourdough bagels at Rubinstein to Korean-Hawaiian fusion Marination to perfectly a balanced beverage from Rachel’s Ginger Beer to Middle Eastern mezze at Mamnoon Street. You stop at six different locations in South Lake Union for tastings and stories behind the distinctive local businesses.

Eat Seattle is permitted and licensed by the Pike Place Market PDA to operate tours in the Pike Place Historical District. The PDA requires any business or person conducting tours within it’s properties and in the public areas of the historical district to be pre-approved and to have a license for this activity

I purchased this tour as a unique Christmas gift for my foodie boyfriend and both he and I had an amazing time! ! Chef Eric made it incredibly easy to find and even secured us free parking which was a nice surprise! We began our tour with some incredible tamales and ended with one of the best macarons (and maybe one of the best desserts) I’ve ever had in my life! Eric was very professional and informative, but also funny and easygoing! He taught us about the history of some Seattle neighborhoods, the culture and science behind the corn that went into the tamales, the interesting bagel making process, and the thought behind different food pairings, etc. He had delicious samples ready for us at each stop and even made sure we had containers to take leftovers home! We were definitely full and happy by the end of the tour : ) I’ve never had an experience like this and I’m glad I took the leap and booked this tour! It is a great gift idea for anyone in your life that loves food or even to treat yourself! I’m already looking into Chef Eric’s other tours!

What an incredible review—thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're delighted to hear that the tour was a hit as a unique Christmas gift and that you and your boyfriend had such a memorable time with Chef Eric. It’s wonderful to know that his mix of professionalism, humor, and deep knowledge enhanced your experience, from tamales to macarons and beyond. We love that you appreciated the attention to detail, like the free parking, ready-to-go samples, and thoughtful touches like leftover containers. Your enthusiasm for learning about the history, culture, and science behind the food is exactly why we do what we do! We're thrilled you're considering booking more tours with Eric, and we can’t wait to welcome you again. Cheers to more foodie adventures! 🍴🎄✨

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour around South Lake Union with Eric. He's personable, knowledgeable, and combines the history of the neighbourhood with detailed explanations about the venues and the food. It's always a bonus to have a chef leading the way because they're able to offer insight and answer questions about the process and procedure of the offerings. Highly recommend this particular tour as a slightly off the beaten path option over the ubiquitous Pike Place Market walks. Don't eat breakfast though - there's a lot of (delicious) food!

The South Lake Union Street Food tour was incredible! It exceeded my expectations, so many different types of food. You should definitely come hungry and ready to eat. It’s enough food for a large meal. We had 2 types of tacos, an assortment of different flavor bagels, fried chicken, ginger beer and macarons. Chef Eric was extremely knowledgeable and gave us tons of chef-y tips and tricks about cooking and the food we were eating. Everything was super clean and moved quickly and easily through the city. We are visiting from Los Angeles and really enjoy food and unique food experiences and this was the perfect thing to do on a rainy Seattle afternoon.
