Summer Dog Sledding Adventure in Willow, Alaska

Overview

The most intimate summer dog sledding experience in Alaska! Our carts are specifically for dog mushing and seat just two people each for an authentic adventure.

Your ride takes place on our own secluded, private training trails, surrounded by Alaska spruce and birch trees. These are the same trails we use to train for Iditarod in the winter! Our carts are 100% dog-powered, just like a sled, so you can take in the natural sounds around you, without any noisy motors or nearby traffic!

After every run, we turn all the dogs loose to run around freely and interact with guests. Enjoy meeting and playing with our champion dogs in an open house-style tour, where questions are encouraged!

Your visit also includes a tour of the kennel and a nature walk to our hand-built, wooden pavilion with a Denali view, for an interactive demonstration of our winter gear and race sled!

It was the perfect adventure that we (grandpa and grandma) could give to our 6 and 9 year-old granddaughters visiting from California. They had a great time. We were fortunate to see good snow conditions early in November, and Matt and Liz Failor were the best of hosts, adjusting their schedule to accommodate us before the usual start of their winter season. There will be a dog in my future!

I am so glad that we were able to experience the one on one adventure with Matthew, Jaren and Liz at Alaskan Huskey Adventures in Willow Alaska. After our weeklong cruise, we found our selves with 12 hours to kill in Anchorage. We rented a car at the airport and took a beautiful leisurely 1.5 hour drive to Willow. We were met by Jaren, musher in training and faithful assistant, and Matthew Failor, owner and Iditarod veteran. The ride was amazing and very authentic, due to the custom sled designed by Matthew. Unlike other crowded commercialized dog sled touristy rides, we had a very personal experience. Matthew is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and spent a lot of time with us answering questions and just chit chatting. We had a lot of fun playing with the very friendly dogs after the ride. I highly recommend going to Alaskan Huskey Adventures over any of the other dog sledding companies. We look forward to following Matthew with his GPS, in the Iditarod in March and hope to come back to visit in the winter for a sled ride on the snow, as they have snow rides as well as summer rides. Thank you Matthew, Jaren and Liz for an amazing adventure.

Alaskan Husky Adventures is a must-do for any dog lover out there. Not only do you get to ride with a sled-dog team and interact with a home full of Alaskan Huskies but you also get immersed in the rich history of the Iditarod with Liz and Matt. They balance information about the sport with lots of playtime with the dogs. The property was clean and the dogs were obviously well cared for. It quickly became apparent that these dogs are members of the family. Highly recommend!
