We were on the boat last night . They kept us in the water for an hour then one of crew told us that there were boats in the boating channel who attracted all the mantas so that is why we didn’t see ANY. They said it was the first time this has happened. They would not go into boating Chanel which I understand but they likely knew that this was happening before and that we had no chance that we were going to see any mantas. They refused to take us to the area where all the mantas were so we could here people screaming in excitement but not allowed to go there . They have a guarantee but what is the point of it as we are leaving today so we would never be able to use it. I would have appreciated a refund . It was a total waste of 268 dollars and I think it is dishonest as they knew what was going on. Some people agent again that night and the staff never told the people on the boat what was going on and they would not see any mantas . This is dishonest in my mind. At least our crew was honest and told us the situation . The crew was awesome and boat is nice and comfortable. Would recommend not to go with them. Also do not go with Paradise manta rays as this was one of the boats who had people in the water in a boating channel which is completely unsafe . I would have appreciated my money back. I came all the way from Toronto to see the mantas and was very disappointed. I know that animals are in the wild and can’t guarantee them showing up but they knew that these boats were attracting the mantas close to them and we were never going to see one . Unfortunate!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we are sorry you did not get to see the manta rays. We always go to the same location, which is where our guests regularly get to see the majestic manta rays. Understanding that they are wild animals, we do not have control over where the manta rays will be and while we would always like for them to be in the manta ray viewing area that we go to every night and where they are a majority of the time, it doesn't always work out that way. Last night, there were boats operating in areas where they should not have been and while other operators may choose to disregard rules and regulations, we are a company that is dedicated to following them for the safety of our guests and our crew, as well as the health and safety of the industry and most importantly, the manta rays. We do understand that our guests pay good money for the experience which is why we offer one of the best manta guarantees in the industry. The next time you are in Kona, simply call us directly with your name and/or booking number and we will get you rebooked for free. We will keep taking you out free of charge until you get to see these majestic manta rays because we want you to experience these majestic creatures in the wild. Mahalo, Alika M., Owner

winter swell had seas to rough and churned up to see more than 3-4 ft. There was no way we were ever going to see anything. The crew clearly knew this but we still all jumped in and stared down at the murk for more than 30 mins. Seas were so rough we destroyed the bouyancy rafts we held onto. I would have respected the Company much more if they refunded our money after looking at conditions.

Aloha and thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry that you did not have an enjoyable trip with us. The night that you went out was rougher than what we typically experience in Kona, but we have also experienced some of the best manta shows on nights where ocean conditions were not optimal. We knew that we could run the trip safely and in an effort to try and give those guests that were leaving the next day an opportunity to see the mantas, we made a decision to run the trip. We do understand that manta rays are wild animals which is why we offer one of the best manta guarantees in the industry. The next time you are on Hawai'i Island, simply call us back and provide us with your name and/or booking confirmation number and we will get you rebooked free of charge as we document those trips where manta rays are not seen by our guests. My wife and I have been on 3 manta tours. The first two were duds; the first one the boat and crew were unprepared for the people they had, the second time the mantas didn’t cooperate and just stayed too far away to see or experience them. KonaStyle’s equipment was first rate though we didn’t use their snorkel gear since we have our own. Their crew was prepared, knowledgeable and skillfully took care of everyone’s needs. The boat is new, modern, well equipped and expertly piloted by Captain Mark. Your trip begins with a walk from the staging area across the street from the pier and our escort tells us history and places that are not commonly explained. Then a pleasant ½ hour sunset cruise (we’ve always had to drive to close-by departure point for a 3-5 minutes boat trip before) to the snorkel site; the crew gets the group ready so you can get right in on arrival. We’re in only a few minutes and the mantas start to swim by. You are not allowed to reach out and touch them, but if you do what your told they may very well touch you; some of the mantas that swam buy us did! The feel of their skin is like a sponge covered by leather and their proximity with a 3foot wide open mouth as they swim by, is an amazing moment in life. Try it!

Mahalo for joining us Mike! We are thrilled to hear that you and your wife enjoyed your time on the water with us, and that the mantas put on a good show for you. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and we hope to see you again on KonaStyle the next time you are looking to get out on the water. Aloha, Alika M., Owner
