I booked this thinking we would be going on a romantic dinner cruise at sunset. Well we get there and the boat was really small and I thought, maybe this is the boat that takes us to the actual cruise boat, nope, this was the cruise boat. The tables were dirty and there was a hair stuck to mine. We wiped it off and wanted to give them a chance. But 10 min in it was so rocky things were spilling on the floor and we were planned to sit thru this for 2 whole hours. We already wanted to jump off and just swim back. They brought our food, started with a nice salad accompanied by your choice of dressing. We’d chosen to go with the Mahi Mahi, rice and veggies. The food was delicious! But I could barely stomach it because of how rocky the boat was. When booking this we planned for a little bumpiness, because, it’s a cruise, we’re on the water, we know. But this was bad. I slowly ate my food and they brought out some beautiful cheesecake topped in a berry sauce with whipped cream on the side. Absolutely lovely, except it was icy frozen in the middle. We were just happy to get off and counted down to when it would be over. Def not worth the money, sorry. The crew did work very hard and I know it’s nothing they can control. Just be prepared, bring some Dramamine.

We appreciate you taking the time to put your detailed review together, despite the trip not being to your liking. However, it’s great to hear that you enjoyed the food and service. Those are aspects of the trip that we can control. The first thing Il address is the “tables were dirty” comment. We definitely work hard to keep the entire upper deck dining area as clean as possible, but the outside tables and seating (which is where I assume you were) is a constant challenge to keep completely spotless, especially with the constant breeze that is present in Hawaii. That being said, we should do better and the cleanliness of the tables should not be an issue. Your comment that the Prince Kuhio is “really small” is something we have never had to address. The vessel itself is close to 100 ft long and third largest dinner cruise boat in Honolulu and the largest in our harbor. As well, and most importantly, all of our marketing and advertising has numerous pictures of the boat, from multiple angles and points of view, and our website even has a thorough history and description of the vessel. It is astonishing that the size of the Prince Kuhio would be a surprise, let alone a complaint. Your remarks about the rough weather are, by far, the most common negative feedback that we get. The reality is that we cruise on the open Pacific Ocean, and we make a huge effort to communicate that to our customers in the cruise descriptions and follow up in the confirmation documents. We clearly convey the need for customers to prepare accordingly, including motion sickness medication. The difficult position for us is that the weather changes almost minute by minute in Hawaii and most of the passengers don’t get sick and most don’t have the option to re-book their trip to a day with “perfect” weather. We do our best to operate our cruises with passenger comfort in mind, and we cancel trips when appropriate, but we simply can’t make everyone happy with our decisions and we accept that. However, when we get back to the dock, we have far more happy people that not.

It was my daughters 14th Birthday. We had a great time aboard. The staff was friendly and polite. My hats off for the chief. The braised ribs, spinach, potatoes and salad were delicious. Not to mentioned the bread pudding was the best I’ve had - period. Loved every bit of the sunset cruise.

Thank you for the great review and the feedback on the food. Chef Cater will be very happy to know that you and your daughter were impressed! If we knew it was her birthday maybe we could have done something a little special but we're really happy everything was fun and memorable.

The people were fabulous, the food was fabulous, and even though they were not selling alcoholic beverages yet due to Covid, It was BYOB so we had a good time! The only awful part was that the restroom broke down 1/2 hour into the cruise. That was kind of scary and limited what we would drink to make sure we didn't have to go before we got back to our hotel.
