Little or no experience is necessary to use our sturdy sit-on-top kayaks to explore the coastal waters of Virginia Beach and get closer to wild dolphins than you have ever been before. Guides will help you launch and navigate along the coast for 2-hrs while you relax and enjoy a magnificent view of the sun setting over the Bay.

What To Expect

First Landing State Park

Meet your guides on the beach at the Main Entrance to First Landing State Park ready for one of Virginia Beach's most unique experiences. After a short briefing on safety and kayak operation, your guides will help launch you and your kayak into the Chesapeake Bay where you will enjoy the thrill of kayaking with Atlantic Bottle nose Dolphins off the Shoreline of Virginia Beach while also witnessing a magnificent sunset.

Cape Henry Lighthouse

Since 1996, We have been offering guided kayak dolphin watching trips to see these amazing creatures during their summer migration off the coast of Virginia. The Sunset Tour combines dolphin watching with a sightseeing tour of landmarks such as The Cape Henry Lighthouses and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. On our Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tour you will likely see dolphins and numerous birds as we paddle along historic Cape Henry in Virginia Beach. Along the way you will also see local landmarks such as the Cape Henry Lighthouses and Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel get lit up by the evening sun as it sinks beyond the horizon of the Bay.

This tour leaves from First Landing State Park Beach around 5:30pm. The guides give you an overview of the basics before you launch. The kayaks are tandem so It's best to go with an even number of people if you don't want to get split up. All the equipment looked well taken care of and the main guide has a dry bag to keep cell phones and keys during the tour. The guides are all very well educated on the Dolphins, Fish, Birds and area. The guides are. very friendly too! We saw two groups of dolphins emerge. They were pretty far away from us but we did see their fins break the surface. The water can get choppy. If you get motion sick I'd suggest taking medicine for it before you go.

We were able to see plenty of dolphins. The tour guides were great and very knowledgeable. We did not get to see the lighthouse and the storm blowing in on the return trip made paddling a little challenging, but we enjoyed ourselves and loved the experience. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

The guides are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! Even though we only saw a handful of dolphins from a distance it was still a great experience.
