Take a small-group guided dolphin kayak tour along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay at sunset to combine gorgeous visuals with epic dolphin experiences. Little or no experience is necessary to use our sturdy sit-on-top kayaks to explore the coastal waters of Virginia Beach and get closer to wild dolphins than you have ever been before. Guides will help you launch and navigate along the coast for 2-hrs while you relax and enjoy a magnificent view of the sun setting over the Bay.

What To Expect

First Landing State Park

Meet your guides on the beach at the Main Entrance to First Landing State Park ready for one of Virginia Beach's most unique experiences. After a short briefing on safety and kayak operation, your guides will help launch you and your kayak into the Chesapeake Bay where you will enjoy the thrill of kayaking with Atlantic Bottle nose Dolphins off the Shoreline of Virginia Beach while also witnessing a magnificent sunset.

Cape Henry Lighthouse

Since 1996, We have been offering guided kayak dolphin watching trips to see these amazing creatures during their summer migration off the coast of Virginia. The Sunset Tour combines dolphin watching with a sightseeing tour of landmarks such as The Cape Henry Lighthouses and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. On our Sunset Dolphin Kayak Tour you will likely see dolphins and numerous birds as we paddle along historic Cape Henry in Virginia Beach. Along the way you will also see local landmarks such as the Cape Henry Lighthouses and Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel get lit up by the evening sun as it sinks beyond the horizon of the Bay.

We never saw one dolphin, which sucks, u pay all that money and get your hopes up. Also leaving a 3 star bc, I was told parking was 5.00, not 10.00 when we got there. That was not fair to treat your first time customers like this.

Hi Charlene! We are so sorry your tour did not see dolphins- that is a total bummer! We don’t advertise it as a guarantee and being that dolphins are wild animals we can’t control them! In regards to the state park increasing their pricing for parking- we apologize. We hope your guide was professional and that you were able to enjoy the kayaking aspect of the tour.

We had a wonderful time on the Kayak Tour! The guides were wonderful! We saw Dolphins and the guides made everything so easy! The water was perfect and we enjoyed the sunset as we came back in! I highly recommend Sunset Dolphins Tours!

Didn't have much hope of finding a kayak dolphin tour since we only had one day and sure didn't expect one of the best tours we've ever had but that's what we got! I called in the morning. Matt called us back quickly and worked with our limited time to give us a great experience. I think he might have even ordered up the weather just for us as it was calm and beautiful! Quick thorough instructions and in we went. We saw dolphins immediately and paddled with them. Amazing and beautiful! Matt is a great conversationalist and sea life expert. He shared his expertise and stories, educating and entertaining us as we paddled and watched the dolphins. He took a bunch of great pictures and air dropped them at the end of our tour. We plan to do another tour on our next trip to Virginia Beach. Matt is a local who knows the area and how to provide a great tour. Highly recommend!
