Kapowui is a family run business and and an icon of southern California.

We live, eat, and dream surfing and teach surfing because we want to share our love and stoke for the sport. This is a life choice for us and what gives our lives meaning.

All of Kapowui's instructors are imbued with the Aloha spirit, live within blocks of the beach (4 of them live in surf vans), surf every day and have many years teaching experience.

When we are doing a lesson with you, we are 100% focused and in the moment with you.

Carl is the best instructor I have ever had in my life. I could not have asked for a better instructor than him. He was funny, and encouraging, helpful, nice, joyful, silly and overall awesome! Carl is my inspiration. When I grow up to be an adult I want to be like him. He is better than all the other people there, not saying that they are bad, just saying that Carl is a bit more fun. After every wave Carl makes funny noises like, “yeeee” or yooowaaaaiii” which just make you laugh when riding the wave. I recommend everyone to go surfing with Carl and you will have so much fun and learn so much with him. Carl is the best there is and he is awesome!

Carl with more than 25 year of surfing experience was our instructor for three days in a row. We had a blast with him. He never got tired of helping, pushing and encouraging us to do better. Definitely recommending this crew and Carl from South Africa 🇿🇦 . We took lessons two years ago at Malibu with another surfing company, but neither that company nor their instructor come close to Kapowui. 🙌 Thank you guys for an amazing experience and teaching us get better at 🏄‍♀️🏄🏻🏄🏻 with every wave 🥰🤗😎
