Kapowui is a family run business and and an icon of southern California.

We live, eat, and dream surfing and teach surfing because we want to share our love and stoke for the sport. This is a life choice for us and what gives our lives meaning.

All of Kapowui's instructors are imbued with the Aloha spirit, live within blocks of the beach (4 of them live in surf vans), surf every day and have many years teaching experience.

My son and I have had several sessions: amazing spot at Venice beach, great team and awesome coach (Nofar). Book the early bird sessions: we were surfing at 8 a.m. with dolphins closeby.

My boyfriend and I are local to LA but finally signed up to take a private surf lesson together. Carl was our instructor and he was fantastic! Spent about 25 minutes on the beach teaching us the basics of the board and form, practiced and then was very patient when we moved into the water. We both caught a couple waves and had so much fun. Easy access for the meeting point right in the Venice beach parking lot. Carl really took care of us!
