Kapowui is a family run business and and an icon of southern California.

We live, eat, and dream surfing and teach surfing because we want to share our love and stoke for the sport. This is a life choice for us and what gives our lives meaning.

All of Kapowui's instructors are imbued with the Aloha spirit, live within blocks of the beach (4 of them live in surf vans), surf every day and have many years teaching experience.

I took myself and 13 year old son for a lesson. Super friendly bunch. We were late but they couldn’t have been nicer and still gave me full time Great location right on beach out of VW vintage buses. Highly recommend

Kapowui was awesome! We arrived early, so they pointed out some things to see before lessons. We got back a few minutes late (why does walking back always take longer?) so they got right to work! Being first-time surfers, everyone was nervous about being able to do it, but Todd assured everyone that they could do it! He also let us know that the weather was affecting the quality of the waves and that actually catching a wave would likely be difficult. However, everyone got to ride a wave or two and all had a super time!! Thanks so much- and we will be back again someday!!

My son and I have had several sessions: amazing spot at Venice beach, great team and awesome coach (Nofar). Book the early bird sessions: we were surfing at 8 a.m. with dolphins closeby.
