Guides are required to wear masks at the shop and rental stand but as soon as tours and lessons begin it is extremely easy to maintain a safe distance and the use of masks will only happen if requested by the client.

First time surfing. Went to Mondo's Beach in Ventura for the optimal waves. Took a private lesson with Charles and had a great time. Was out on the water learning by doing right away! Overall A+ experience! Easy to find the van, helpful and polite instructor, and lots of practice! Thanks Charles!

We did a 4 person group surf lesson. It was a great experience and our teens loved every minute of it. Our instructor Tyler was positive and patient and did a great job teaching the kids how to surf. Kudos to Santa Barbara Surf School.

They front office did a great job setting us up. We had a group of 11 kids stay west of Santa Barbara so they worked with us to provide lessons closer to where we were staying. The guys that gave lessons were at the beach waiting and got us all set up and down to the beach. They did a good job teaching the kids and got a number of them up and riding. It wasn't the perfect beach to learn at but we were ok with that to keep things close. The only thing that would've helped would've been to have one more instructor out there with them. We had 11 kids and 2 instructors, they did they're best to keep the kids going but there was a bit of waiting around to get pushed into waves. All in all, a good day and experience for the kids!

Hi James, thanks for your feedback in this review. As a small surf company in Santa Barbara we strive to provide 5 star experiences everytime we provide a surf lesson. We're so glad to hear that our office team accommodated your custom request. We're also pumped to hear that our instructors were so professional and helpful. As we mentioned over the phone, where we hosted your surf lesson was not the beach location we recommended but a beach that you requested we host your lesson at despite us recommending against it. With the accommodation of the custom beach location on a busy Saturday in July we were only able to offer 2 instructors. We also typically assign 1 instructor per 5 surfers and when the 11th surfer was added the day prior we were already sold out on instructors for that day. I hope this helps bring clarity to why your lesson felt more like a 4 star experience instead of a 5 star experience. Lastly, thank you so much for your kind words and for booking a surf lesson with us. We are so stoked that it was a good day for the family during your stay at the Ritz Carlton.
